Social Engineering: Techniques & Mitigation

The days when it was safe to keep your data on a switched-off un-networked unit in a locked room with a security guard outside are over! Organisations are slowly recognising the risk of the threat of social engineering, but where punishment equates to very small financial penalties this problem is only just getting warmed up.  Some of the techniques for gaining access to an organisation's assets will be considered as well as controls that can be used to reduce this threat.

Speakers:  Mr David King, Joint Deputy Chair, ISSA - UK Advisory Board & Chair, Information Security Awareness Forum, Mr Ian McKinnon, Board Member, Information Security Awareness Forum, Mr John Colley, Managing Director, EMEA, (ISC)2 UK Ltd.
