With the mass adoption of virtualisation, a new layer of vulnerabilities is presented that is not being given due consideration by many organisations. The approach to securing virtual machines needs a different set of guidelines, standards and tools to securing the OS. At this time security at the virtual layer is immature – and it is estimated that 60% (Gartner) of virtual machines are less secure than their physical counterparts. Speakers will therefore seek to assess the state of virtualisation in the context of Information Security.
