Travelcards

The London Travelcard allows you to travel across all public transport for a fixed price for the validity of the ticket. Your Travelcard must be valid for all the zones you travel through. Travelcards are valid for travel on:

  • The Tube, DLR, London Overground and buses
  • Trams, where your Travelcard includes Zone 3, 4, 5 or 6
  • National Rail (excluding Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow, and on Heathrow Express)
  • Scheduled Riverboat services at 1/3 off the normal fare. Just show your Travelcard (or Oyster card with a Travelcard on it) at the time of travel

    1 Day Travelcards:
  • Peak time: Can be used all day Mondays to Fridays, on the day of validity and for any journey that starts before 04:30 the following day. On public holidays it is cheaper to buy an Off-Peak Day Travelcard.
  • Off-Peak time: Can be used from 09:30 Mondays to Fridays, all day Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, on the day of validity and for any journey that starts before 04:30 on the following day.
      3 Day Travelcards:
    • Peak time - Can be used all day on each day of validity and for any journey that starts before 0430 on the day following the expiry date.
    • Off-Peak time - Can be used from 09:30 Mondays to Fridays, all day Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, on each day of validity and for any journey that starts before 04:30 on the day following the expiry date.

      To save you time when you arrive in London you can buy a london travelcard in advance. ExCeL London is in Zone 3. Your Travelcard must be valid for all the zones you travel through.

    • Oyster Card System

      The Oyster card is a 'smartcard' which makes buying and using tickets easier. Oyster is the cheapest way to pay for single journeys on the bus, tube, tram, DLR and some National Rail services in London.  If you plan on doing several single journeys it may work out cheaper otherwise buy a travel card.   Oyster
      Pay as you go has several advantages over paper tickets:
    • Oyster single fares are generally cheaper
    • Credit can be used as you need it and doesn't expire
    • Daily price capping automatically calculates the cheapest fare for the journeys you make in a single day
